{"id":124,"date":"2011-11-15T12:23:47","date_gmt":"2011-11-15T12:23:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/?p=124"},"modified":"2018-04-27T15:14:47","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T19:14:47","slug":"bus-transit-for-downtown-residents-beyond-the-r-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/transportation-parking\/bus-transit-for-downtown-residents-beyond-the-r-line","title":{"rendered":"Bus Transit for Downtown Residents: Beyond the R-Line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"full-image-float-left ssNonEditable\"><span><img style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"\/storage\/Busimage.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1321364833375\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><span class=\"thumbnail-caption\" style=\"width: 250px;\">Moore Square Transit Station<\/span><\/span>Okay, so we love the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.godowntownraleigh.com\/get-around\/r-line\">R-Line<\/a> for getting around the downtown core, but what if we want to do some <em>real<\/em> shopping or go to the airport? &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Like other downtown residents, you like to avoid getting in your car when you can, so maybe you&rsquo;ve already considered taking the bus somewhere.&nbsp; But you may assume it isn&rsquo;t practical or worry you might not get where you want to go on time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Well, if you were one of the DLA members who attended our transit event two weeks ago, you learned just how easy it is to take the bus.&nbsp; For those who missed our event, here&rsquo;s the good news.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong><span class=\"full-image-float-right ssNonEditable\"><span><img style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"\/storage\/MooreSquareStation.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1321360374344\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/span>Fares <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Compared to driving, bus fares are extremely cheap, with one-way fares costing just a buck! It&rsquo;s even less expensive to buy a 5 day or monthly pass.&nbsp; You can even <span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gotriangle.org\/transit\/purchase-bus-pass-online\/\">purchase your bus pass online<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><strong>Boarding at Moore Square<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Moore Square Station Transit Mall is shown on the right.&nbsp; There are different boarding zones, so look for the colored pillars to learn where to stand and wait for your bus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong><em>Shopping at Cameron Village, Crabtree Valley Mall or Townridge Shopping Center<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>At the Moore Square Station, line up at the Red Zone.&nbsp; Using route #39, the trip to Cameron Village takes only 10 minutes, and then another 15 minutes (25 minutes total) to Crabtree Valley Mall.&nbsp; Here is the <a href=\"\/storage\/CAT_39_out.pdf\">outbound<\/a> (from downtown) and <a href=\"\/storage\/CAT_39_In.pdf\">inbound<\/a> route map and schedule.&nbsp; If you prefer to shop at the Pleasant Valley or Townridge Shopping Centers, the trip via <a href=\"\/storage\/CAT_06_Out.pdf\">route #6<\/a> takes 40 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em><span class=\"full-image-float-left ssNonEditable\"><span><img style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"\/storage\/BusRouteCrabTree39.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1321360554935\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/span><span class=\"full-image-block ssNonEditable\"><span><img style=\"width: 250px;\" src=\"\/storage\/BusRouteRDU.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1321360612691\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/span>Going to the airport<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>At the Moore Square Station, line up at the Purple Zone.&nbsp; The bus stops at both airport terminals and takes only 30 minutes.&nbsp; Here is the <a href=\"\/storage\/100_Map.pdf\">route map<\/a> and <a href=\"\/storage\/100weekday.pdf\">schedule<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>New Technology for real-time tracking is here, and more is COMING SOON.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many downtown residents enjoy the free smartphone App to get real time <a href=\"http:\/\/m.yourhere.com\/rline-map.php\"><span>tracking of the R-Line bus<\/span><\/a>.&nbsp; And this same tracking is also available TODAY for all <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighrides.org\/\"><span>CAT and Triangle Transit Bus routes<\/span><\/a>.&nbsp; For tracking on the go, you can download the <a href=\"http:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/transloc-transit-visualization\/id367023550?mt=8\"><span>iPhone App here<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But it&rsquo;s going to get even better.&nbsp; Real-time bus route information will soon provide <a href=\"http:\/\/triangle.transloc.com\/\"><span>predictions of bus arrival times at any stop<\/span><\/a>. This information is sent to digital signs at some stops, but is also available by text message and on the web.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><span><\/p>\n<p><span>Want to learn more?
