Sign up here to be a Zipster!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/images.jpeg\" rel=\"lightbox[1241]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1247\" alt=\"images\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/images.jpeg\" width=\"160\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/images.jpeg 160w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/images-150x150.jpeg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 160px) 100vw, 160px\" \/><\/a>There\u2019s a trend that many downtowners are embracing as they streamline their lifestyles.\u00a0 They realize that there\u2019s a freedom in dropping the old idea that there needs to be a car in the garage for every adult in the house.\u00a0 Recognizing this orientation and its benefits to residents, as well as the environment, the city made the <a href=\"http:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/bulletins\/gd\/NCRALEIGH-6bffe7\">announcement today<\/a> that <i>zipcar<\/i> will be a new part of the downtown urbanscape.\u00a0 David Eatman, City of Raleigh Transit Administrator, said, \u201cThis will be a huge asset for our growing residential community in downtown Raleigh\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>So why did it take so long?<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve been around DLA for long, you\u2019ll remember that we helped bring WeCar, Enterprise\u2019s car sharing service to the downtown Raleigh market back in July 2010.\u00a0 This is <a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/transportation-parking\/the-dla-is-proud-to-announce-car-sharing-now-available-in-downtown-raleigh\">what we said back then<\/a>.\u00a0 Unfortunately, WeCar left the market after about a year, unsuccessful in expanding beyond residents into the nearby universities.
