Wilmington Street, which means that <a href=\"http:\/\/clydecoopersbbq.com\">Clyde Cooper\u2019s BBQ<\/a> will be moving into the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/home\/news\/content\/CorNews\/Articles\/RetailSpace.html\">unfinished and never been used retail spaces<\/a> that face Wilmington Street, located below the Blount Street Parking Deck.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1527\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Newlocation-copy.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1524]\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1527\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1527 \" alt=\"Click to enlarge\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Newlocation-copy-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1527\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New location &#8211; click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The owners of Cooper\u2019s didn\u2019t want to leave their nearly 130 year old building, that has served as the original location of Clyde Cooper\u2019s barbecue restaurant for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/2013\/03\/07\/2729680\/coopers-barbecue-celebrates-75.html\">past 75 years<\/a>.\u00a0 The owners were forced to move to make way for the development of the new <a href=\"http:\/\/raleighpublicrecord.org\/news\/city-council\/2011\/10\/21\/edison-plans-scaled-down-but-inching-forward\/\">Edison Apartments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Edison Apartments is a planned 6-story 239 unit apartment project to be located on the southern side of the block bounded by Blount, Davie and Wilmington Streets.\u00a0 The Edison Apartments should not be confused with the <a href=\"http:\/\/dtraleigh.com\/2012\/06\/skyhouse-apartments-helping-the-edison-project-come-to-life\/\">Skyhouse Apartments<\/a>, a 23 story tower of 320 apartments from the same developer, but located on the opposite side of the block along the northeast corner of Blount and Martin Street.<\/p>\n<p>The owners of Cooper\u2019s plan to create an exact replica of the restaurant, at least inside.\u00a0 \u00a0 And it\u2019s great to hear they\u2019ll be staying in the same neighborhood, in fact just a short 2 minute 500 foot walk around the corner.<\/p>\n<p>The move isn\u2019t planned until November or December this year, so there&#8217;s still time to reminisce and enjoy some of Cooper\u2019s famous barbecue in their historic location.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A downtown Raleigh institution is moving, but not very far.\u00a0 We\u2019ve known about the move for some time, but the location has been kept secret . . until now!
