{"id":1991,"date":"2014-08-06T09:37:57","date_gmt":"2014-08-06T13:37:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/?p=1991"},"modified":"2018-04-27T15:13:48","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T19:13:48","slug":"clockwork-glenwood-souths-organic-fresh-preservative-free-alternative-kitchen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/glenwood-south\/clockwork-glenwood-souths-organic-fresh-preservative-free-alternative-kitchen","title":{"rendered":"Clockwork is Glenwood South\u2019s Organic, Fresh, Preservative Free Alternative to Your Own Kitchen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/I_0414_Web_Also_Clock_2.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1991]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1993\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/I_0414_Web_Also_Clock_2.jpg\" alt=\"I_0414_Web_Also_Clock_2\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>More and more people are finding themselves like me, apologizing as we look up at a waiter asking questions like, \u201cIs the flour organic?\u201d \u201cIs the filet grass-fed?\u201d There are jokes about consumers like us, but food allergies aren\u2019t funny at all, if you suffer from the effects of chemicals and additives.<\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, I found the answer to all my questions at the DLA\u2019s Battle of the Pizza, an event held in June to welcome new residents at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.927westmorgan.com\/?gclid=CjwKEAjwxtKeBRDMzoeQmYn5uHcSJACGCF3DXvNAYezaa0olHb9QRHRXvqhpCnFUKBMIIkWbW4ZJFxoC-BPw_wcB#\"><span style=\"color: #165878;\">927 West Morgan Street Apartments<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 The winner of the pizza taste-off and owner of <a href=\"http:\/\/clockworkraleigh.com\"><span style=\"color: #165878;\">Clockwork<\/span><\/a>, Souheil Al-Awar, has turned his zeal for fresh, chemical free ingredients into a creative menu that would suit any palate.\u00a0 He explains, \u201cI can eat here because it\u2019s all homemade and fresh.\u00a0 It\u2019s like eating in your own kitchen.\u00a0 Food takes a little longer to prepare because it is made from scratch.\u00a0 If you order an organic salad with the Orange Vinaigrette, the vinaigrette is made at the time of the order.\u00a0 Fresh grated orange peel, olive oil\u2026.. \u201c\u00a0 Everything isn\u2019t farm to table because some ingredients are just better from Italy or abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Many are attracted to the restaurant at 519 W. North St. because of its fresh-made cocktails and hip decor that blurs the line between inside and out, but for me the fresh, unique menu is the real jewel.\u00a0 Now more than 90 days preservative free, I love how I feel and it\u2019s bliss to be able to walk around the corner from where I live on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.godowntownraleigh.com\/districts\/glenwood-south\"><span style=\"color: #165878;\">Glenwood South<\/span><\/a> and enjoy a meal that ensures that I\u2019ll keep feeling as good as the food tastes.<\/p>\n<p>At the DLA\u2019s pizza contest, residents at the Morgan St. apartments voted overwhelmingly for both Clockwork\u2019s vegetarian pizza, Tri Me (with a cream sauce base, topped with sliced jalapenos, mandarin oranges, pistachios, and mozzarella) and the meat lovers pizza, The Two O\u2019clock (with local pepperoni, local sweet Italian Sausage, local organic flour, and homemade tomato sauce with mozzarella.)\u00a0 Al-Alwar says that the most popular items he sells include his tacos, falafel, chicken, carnitas, NY strip and mahi mahi.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/PizzaImage.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1991]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1994\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/PizzaImage-1024x498.jpg\" alt=\"PizzaImage\" width=\"600\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/PizzaImage-1024x498.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/PizzaImage-300x146.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/08\/PizzaImage.jpg 1035w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Clockwork now offers a 20% discount to Downtown Residents on Sunday and Monday nights.
