VOTE YES!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/VOTE-YES.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2055]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2059\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/VOTE-YES.jpg\" alt=\"VOTE-YES\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/VOTE-YES.jpg 960w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/VOTE-YES-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/VOTE-YES-100x75.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a>When my wife and I moved to Raleigh ten years ago, one the first things we did to acclimate ourselves to the area was walk the greenways and explore the parks.\u00a0 We actually got out a map and targeted any sections that were big and green!\u00a0 If you feel like we do that these amenities define Raleigh\u2019s commitment to good stewardship of resources and prizing of the quality of life associated with walking, biking and community centers, then this is your opportunity to vote with your wallet.<\/p>\n<p>On November 4th, Raleigh voters will have the opportunity to approve a $91.7 million bond to upgrade and create new parks, greenways and cultural facilities.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Park Improvements<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phase I implementation of the newly adopted park master plan for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/parks\/content\/ParksRec\/Articles\/Parks\/Chavis.html\">John Chavis Memorial Park<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Upgrading heating, ventilation and air conditions systems at Lake Wheeler and the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/parks\/content\/ParksRec\/Articles\/Parks\/Pullen.html\"> Pullen Community Center<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Designing and building a new comfort station at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/parks\/content\/ParksRec\/Articles\/Parks\/ShelleyLake.html\">Shelley Lake<\/a> near the greenway<\/li>\n<li>Completing a park master plan, and implementing boardwalk and interpretive opportunities for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/parks\/content\/ParksRec\/Articles\/Parks\/WalnutCreekWetlandCenter.html\">Walnut Creek Wetland<\/a> areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Greenway Improvements<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connecting Crabtree Creek Greenway from the Duraleigh area to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncparks.gov\/Visit\/parks\/wium\/main.php\">Umstead State Park<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Closing the one remaining gap in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wral.com\/plans-revived-to-extend-crabtree-creek-trail-to-umstead-state-park-\/12584646\/\">Crabtree Creek Greenway trail<\/a> by extending the greenway from Herford Street extending to the east side of Lassiter Mill Road<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Cultural Resource Projects<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Designing and building a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/parks\/content\/Arts\/Articles\/PullenArtsCenter.html\">Pullen Art Center<\/a> in partnership with NCSU Gregg Museum<\/li>\n<li>Historic site Improvements to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rccpreservation.org\/Cemeteries\/CityCemetery\/tabid\/62\/Default.aspx\">City Cemetery<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/parks\/content\/ParksRec\/Articles\/Parks\/Mordecai.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mordecai Square<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Historic site improvements to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/parks\/content\/PRecRecreation\/Articles\/HRMPope.html\">Pope House<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/parks\/content\/PRecRecreation\/Articles\/HRMTucker.html\">Tucker House<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Land Acquisition &amp;
