{"id":35,"date":"2009-11-03T14:43:39","date_gmt":"2009-11-03T14:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/?p=35"},"modified":"2018-04-27T15:15:43","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T19:15:43","slug":"are-you-a-raleigh-first-friday-newbie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/artmusicentertainment\/are-you-a-raleigh-first-friday-newbie","title":{"rendered":"Are you a Raleigh First Friday Newbie?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span>You may have noticed the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.godowntownraleigh.com\/firstfriday\/index.htm\">First Friday<\/a><span> flags that go up in front of galleries and shops on the first friday of each month.&nbsp; These signal that you&rsquo;re welcome from 6-9PM for good conversation, a wide variety of art, and an opportunity to toast to the growing evening attractions of Downtown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>First Friday started at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artspacenc.org\/\">Artspace<\/a><span> many years ago, and until recently most of the action stayed focused there and in the Moore Square Area.&nbsp; But now First Friday celebrations have spread all over Downtown.&nbsp; The Raleigh Contemporary Gallery changed its name to The <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.themahlerfineart.com\/\">Mahler Gallery<\/a><span> and moved to <\/span><span>Fayetteville Street<\/span><span>, joined recently by the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecollectorsgallery.com\/\">Collectors Gallery<\/a><span>, located on City Plaza.
