{"id":39,"date":"2009-12-02T15:28:16","date_gmt":"2009-12-02T15:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/?p=39"},"modified":"2018-04-27T15:15:43","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T19:15:43","slug":"my-first-friday-art-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/artmusicentertainment\/my-first-friday-art-tour","title":{"rendered":"My First Friday Art Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Glenwood South<\/em><\/div>\n<div>Usually on First Fridays I start off gallery hopping on the east side of town, beginning with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artspacenc.org\/\">Artspace<\/a>. &nbsp;But this December 4th I&#8217;m going to kick off the festivities on the west side of town, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spiritworksonline.com\/Site\/Home.html\">SpiritWorks Studio<\/a> (608 Glenwood Ave. [behind 610] where my friend Donna is exhibiting her new series &ldquo;Interfaith Children&rdquo;. &nbsp;Next, I&rsquo;ll peek next door, (behind the carpet store) to check out the studio recently opened by my very talented friend, Jason.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Next I&rsquo;ll go up the street and stop by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leehansleygallery.com\/news.html\">Lee Hansley&#8217;s Gallery<\/a> at 225 Glenwood to see his Christmas Show of over 200 pieces, &nbsp;each under $1000. &nbsp;Then I&#8217;ll go across Glenwood to Lee Hansley&#8217;s new temporary gallery on the corner of Glenwood and Jones Streets to see a new exhibition of some large contemporary pieces of art.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Working a little south, there is always lots of art for me to see at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecarterbuilding.com\/\">Carter Building<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><em>&nbsp;<\/em><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Warehouse District<\/em><\/div>\n<div>Then I&#8217;d cross Hillsborough St. and walk down to the Warehouse District to see the very new and exciting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flandersartgallery.com\/\">Flanders Gallery<\/a> at the corner of West and Martin. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Just down the street from Flanders is Judy Jones&#8217; print exhibition space at <a href=\"http:\/\/311galleriesandstudios.org\/home.html\">311 West Martin&nbsp;Street&nbsp;Galleries<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Fayetteville Street<\/em><\/div>\n<div>From there it&#8217;s just a short walk east to the beautiful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themahlerfineart.com\/\">Mahler Gallery<\/a> and the new glass enclosed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thecollectorsgallery.com\/\">Collectors Gallery<\/a>, both on Fayetteville St.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>From there I&#8217;ll to stop off at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sostacafe.com\/\">Sosta Cafe<\/a>, 130 E. Davie St., to see that new painting show.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Then on to Artspace at Blount and E.
