{"id":745,"date":"2012-10-03T17:08:44","date_gmt":"2012-10-03T21:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/?p=745"},"modified":"2018-04-27T15:14:25","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T19:14:25","slug":"dla-bike-tour-of-the-new-house-creek-greenway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/parks-green-space\/dla-bike-tour-of-the-new-house-creek-greenway","title":{"rendered":"DLA Bike tour of the new House Creek Greenway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bike_cartoon-copy.gif\" rel=\"lightbox[745]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-747\" title=\"bike_cartoon copy\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bike_cartoon-copy.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.raleighnc.gov\/arts\/news\/content\/CorNews\/Articles\/HouseCreekGreenwayDedication.html\">House Creek grand opening<\/a> was a few weeks ago and the DLA is organizing a bike tour of the new greenway.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When<\/strong>: Sunday, October 14 (starting at 10:30am)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where<\/strong>: Meredith College<\/p>\n<p><em>Meet at the entrance to the Reedy Creek Greenway, corner of Hillsborough and Faircloth Street<\/em> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps\/ms?msid=202405474391547403921.0004cb2883fc2c036b40b&amp;msa=0&amp;ll=35.793171,-78.68449&amp;spn=0.01462,0.01575\">Map it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighdla\/\/glenwood-south\/join-us-dla-greenway-bike-tour\">last bike tour<\/a> was organized around the opening of the Little Rock Greenway, so we couldn\u2019t pass up this opportunity to do it again!<\/p>\n<p>While only three miles long, the House Creek Trail provides a major linkage of two greenway systems, creating a continuous greenway that extends a total of 36 miles.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/dl.dropbox.com\/u\/16409862\/HouseBranchTrail%20copy.pdf\">This map<\/a> shows the location of the House Creek Trail Greenway and the connections to the other two existing greenways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Two bike route options:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>8 mile route<\/strong>:\u00a0 We\u2019ll go at a leisurely pace, expecting to take about an hour.\u00a0 The up and back route will start at Meredith College and travel the length of the House Creek Greenway.<\/li>\n<li><strong>16<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>mile route<\/strong>: The 2 hour route will start at Meredith College, travel along the House Creek Greenway and onto the Crabtree Creek Greenway to Shelley Lake, and then return to Meredith College.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Everyone is welcome, so bring the whole family and invite your friends!\u00a0 You can help us get the word out by <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.dropbox.com\/u\/16409862\/House%20Creek%20Trail%20Flyer.pdf\">posting this flyer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please <a href=\"http:\/\/app.bronto.com\/public\/webform\/render_form\/0qa2orvjycla2w590rgxbuydck7ag\/e1bab5f459eaae2d22ce1257271ca2db\/addcontact\">RSVP here<\/a> and let us know which route you would prefer to join.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll plan to gather at Applebee\u2019s on Hillsborough Street for lunch after the event.<\/p>\n<p>See you there!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; The House Creek grand opening was a few weeks ago and the DLA is organizing a bike tour of the new greenway.
