Permit Party is a newish feature that combines our former \u201cNew Building Report\u201d and \u201cRenovation Roundup\u201d columns into one.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Raleigh’s about to get a whole lot badder.<\/p>\n

Permits were issued last week for work on the city’s second location of burger chain Bad Daddy’s Burgers, which will be located in the new Olive Park shopping center at 9400 Falls of Neuse Road in North Raleigh. The chain currently has a location in downtown Raleigh’s Seaboard Station.<\/p>\n

The $63,000 worth of work at the new, two-story, 7,823 square-foot location will be handled by Precision Builders.<\/p>\n

Olive Park will be anchored by Raleigh’s first Sprouts Farmers Market\/grocery store, which received permits back in September<\/a>. The center will offer visitors a number of dining options beyond Bad Daddy’s: a\u00a0City Barbecue, a Chronic Tacos, and a Papa Murphy\u2019s Pizza.<\/p>\n

We’re not sure if Papa Murphy’s counts, because it’s one of those weird “take and bake” places where you don’t actually dine in, although\u00a0we imagine their pizzas probably pair well with a\u00a0late afternoon, post-nap “wake and bake.”<\/p>\n

Speaking of baking, something called Production Bakery received permits at City Market in downtown Raleigh, although the only notes on the permits describe the work as “changing employee areas to seating only adding tables and chairs.” That may explain why the cost is listed at a mere $3,000; the contractor is listed as TP Triangle Construction.<\/p>\n

Also happening in downtown Raleigh is the addition of a new awning for our friends over at Reliable Loan & Jewelry, which recently opened up shop in a new location on the ground floor of the Edison at 345 S. Wilmington St., a few blocks down from their original home at 307 S. Wilmington, which was recently torn down.\u00a0<\/a>The new awning will be installed by Custom Canvas Works for $1,758.<\/p>\n

A little further out, a parking lot at Cameron Village is set for some minor repairs and re-striping work, which we hope doesn’t have too negative an effect on all the last-minute Christmas shoppers we imagine will be flooding the shopping center over the coming days. Actually, it’s likely work on this project won’t start until after the holiday. MP Contracting & Consulting will be handling this $25,000 project.<\/p>\n

Finally \u2014 it was another slow week in Raleigh’s commercial construction world \u2014 Chilango Taco out at 2253 New Hope Church Road will be undergoing some interior renovations to their kitchen area. Divine Construction Group will be handling this $15,000 job. I’ve never visited myself, but if the Yelp reviews & photos are any indication, the food there is apparently quite heavenly.<\/p>\n
