{"id":21173,"date":"2014-03-12T13:09:47","date_gmt":"2014-03-12T17:09:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raleighpublicrecord.org\/?p=21173"},"modified":"2014-03-12T13:09:47","modified_gmt":"2014-03-12T17:09:47","slug":"south-raleigh-car-repair-shop-approved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/news\/planning-commission\/2014\/03\/12\/south-raleigh-car-repair-shop-approved\/","title":{"rendered":"South Raleigh Car Repair Shop Approved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At their regular meeting on Tuesday, Raleigh Planning Commissioners approved a car care center in south Raleigh. <\/p>\n<p>The approved site plan includes a sales office and tire storage facility on a 1.3-acre property located at the intersection of South Blount Street and Branch Street. State Auto Care and Used Tires also includes two service bays for auto repairs and off-street parking.<\/p>\n<p>Business co-owner Bryant Williams said they&#8217;ve already made an effort to improve the appearance of the property, and they have plans to do more once they get the business going.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at pictures of that area, it&#8217;s very worn down,\u201d Williams said. \u201cIn time I want to make it look like a new place.\u201d<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/SouthAuto.jpg\" alt=\"SouthAuto\" width=\"500\" height=\"496\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-21175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/SouthAuto.jpg 643w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/SouthAuto-140x140.jpg 140w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/SouthAuto-336x333.jpg 336w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/SouthAuto-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The property, 1316 South Blount St., borders a section of railroad owned by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncrr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">North Carolina Railroad Company<\/a>. Company representative Cathy Deeley voiced several concerns about the project, including changing the name of the railroad on the site plan from Norfolk-Southern Railroad to North Carolina Railroad Company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBesides having the name corrected we would like to have a notation in the rail corridor itself,\u201d Deeley said. <\/p>\n<p>Deputy City Attorney Ira Botvinick questioned the necessity of the request.<\/p>\n<p>There were some questions as to what kind of ownership interest the railroad company had with the property.
