{"id":21865,"date":"2014-08-25T09:27:59","date_gmt":"2014-08-25T13:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raleighpublicrecord.org\/?p=21865"},"modified":"2014-08-25T09:28:32","modified_gmt":"2014-08-25T13:28:32","slug":"party-mansion-sells-at-steep-discount","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/news\/2014\/08\/25\/party-mansion-sells-at-steep-discount\/","title":{"rendered":"Party Mansion Sells at Steep Discount"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A house known far and wide as \u201cthe party mansion\u201d sold last month for $1 million. <\/p>\n<p>The property, a supposedly private home that had been transformed into a suburban nightclub replete with stripper poles and hookah rooms, was put on the market for $2.9 million June 5, 2013. <\/p>\n<p>Local business owner Clarence Mann purchased the home for $1 million.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19795\"  class=\"wp-caption module image aligncenter\" style=\"max-width: 612px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/partymansion.jpg\" alt=\"partymansion\" width=\"612\" height=\"612\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19795\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/partymansion.jpg 612w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/partymansion-140x140.jpg 140w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/partymansion-336x336.jpg 336w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/partymansion-60x60.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-media-credit\">Samantha Tran<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The home is located in the Radcliffe subdivision, which consists of 15 lots. Between 2012 and 2013, the \u201cparty mansion\u201d attracted thousands of partygoers to decadent events with names like \u201cEyes Wide Shut.\u201d That is, until a court put an end to the spree.<\/p>\n<p>The Record <a href=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/news\/2013\/06\/17\/court-shuts-down-north-raleigh-party-mansion\/\" title=\"Court Shuts Down North Raleigh Party Mansion\">reported on the neighbors\u2019 case<\/a> last summer, and the story of the \u201cNorth Raleigh party mansion\u201d spread far and wide. He has yet to move in.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nMann declined to comment on the purchase. Vistabution\u2019s director of business development, Angela Estevea, said Mann is really looking forward to his new residence.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s going to be his primary home,\u201d Estevea said. <\/p>\n<p>MacArthur said there has been some speculation in the neighborhood about whether Mann will simply flip the house, given the steep discount in purchase price. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI bought my house super-cheap and he paid $370,000 less and he got two and a half times the square footage,\u201d MacArthur said.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nAlthough he has not yet seen Mann at the house, MacArthur said he has witnessed painting and repair trucks parked in the mansion\u2019s roundabout driveway.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cIt was pretty trashed \u2013 I went through with a prospective buyer four to five months ago; they ripped out all the appliances, anything they could take they moved out,\u201d MacArthur said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Neighborhood Today<\/strong><br \/>\nA year after the party mansion\u2019s last bash, it\u2019s just a memory for Radcliffe neighbors. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pretty quiet \u2013 my daughter\u2019s been out riding bikes, it\u2019s good, we\u2019ve got a couple new houses in back, we\u2019re talking about making it a gated community,\u201d MacArthur said.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cRight after it happened and the news broke on TV and in the newspaper, we were getting one to two hundred cars a day, for months.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cThere\u2019s definitely a lot of people even now; there\u2019s five houses in the neighborhood, six including [the mansion], and you shouldn\u2019t have that much traffic, we\u2019re still getting a lot of it.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOf course, because the kind of traffic the mansion used to draw would include late-night biker gangs, MacArthur said he doesn\u2019t really mind.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s funny, because no matter where I go, people have heard of it. I actually bought a car in Arizona, and I said something about how I lived with this big party house, and he\u2019s like, dude, is it a big white house?\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m like, yeah! He\u2019s like, it\u2019s a party mansion, and I\u2019m like, yeah man, that\u2019s the one!\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHe said the whole fiasco \u201cdefinitely made for an interesting story.\u201d<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s funny, because when I tell anybody where I live, near this big party house, everybody knows where it is.
