Earlier this month, permits were issued for a new apartment complex that will be built in front of the existing University Towers and a block away from the under-construction Stanhope.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting a growing trend, the new complex is named after its address &#8211; 2811 Hillsborough. The 38,613 square foot building will feature 30 apartment units and ground floor retail, and will be built by Liberty Oak, Inc. at a permitted cost of more than $2.8 million.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-22193\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/hboronewapt-771x395.jpg\" alt=\"hboronewapt\" width=\"771\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/hboronewapt-771x395.jpg 771w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/hboronewapt-336x172.jpg 336w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/hboronewapt-1170x600.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Although some local residents may not appreciate the increased density, the owner of the next-door Zaxby&#8217;s is likely thrilled. Imagine how many times you would eat there if it was right outside your front door. Dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>City Council last week also scheduled a public hearing on November 4, for a &#8211; hold on to your hat &#8211; Hillsborough Street residential mixed-use development. The project would be built at 2304 Hillsborough Street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Happening Now-ish<br \/>\n<\/strong>Even the most casual students of Western philosophy are familiar with Plato&#8217;s Allegory of the Cave. Permits were issued October 15 for the $1,205 job, which will enhance the space currently used for selling merchandise and hosting games and tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>Final permits for the interior completion of the Standard Foods, housed on East Franklin Street off Person, were issued October 17. Permits for the $45,000 renovation were issued October 17 to Southpointe Developers.<\/p>\n<p>Hillsborough Street isn&#8217;t the only place for new multifamily development &#8211; a complex out on Mitchell Mill Road in North Raleigh was issued permits on October 16. The Park Place Apartments will consist of two 13,158 square foot buildings each containing 10 housing units. The apartments are located conveniently close to Family Dollar, which sits on an adjoining lot.
