The planning commission handed the 2030 Comprehensive Plan back to the Raleigh City Council today after reviewing resident comments and making 175 amendments. Council will now consider the commission’s certified recommendations<\/a> in a series of August meetings and public hearings.<\/p>\n

Planning Director Mitch Silver joined Planning Commission Chair Maha Chambliss to give the final report to council. Silver said that after two years of writing and revising the plan, he’s happy to be “on the last leg of the process.” Noting all the public hearings and more than a thousand public comments the department received and integrated into the plan, Silver said, “This is how democracy works.”<\/p>\n
