Police say they heard what sounded like a gunshot outside of the RPD&#8217;s Southwest District Substation. Then a man armed with two guns ran into a nearby building, where he had a standoff with police for the next 90 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The standoff on Hutton Street, near the corner of Hillsborough Street and Blue Ridge Road ended when an officer shot the gunman, Justin Lamar Thomas, 26, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>In a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Raleigh Police Chief Harry Dolan said Thomas went outside of the building several times and pointed a gun at officers and at himself. The last time Thomas left the building, Doland said, he pointed a gun at officers near the back door and an officer shot Thomas.<\/p>\n<p>Dolan said Thomas sustained &#8220;non-life-threatening injuries&#8221; and was transferred to WakeMed.<\/p>\n<p>The State Bureau of Investigations is looking into the incident, which is standard procedure when an officer is involved in a shooting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, September 29<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A man, 26 reported that sometime overnight someone stole $600 of miscellaneous items and $600 worth of video games from a home on the 2800 block of Filbert Street.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight, someone stole a GPS from a vehicle parked\u00a0 on the 1300 block of Armstrong Circle.<\/p>\n<p>A 45-year-old woman reported that sometime overnight someone stole a flowery wallet containing a driver\u2019s license, debit card and $5 from her vehicle parked at a home on the 2100 block of Weybridge Drive.<\/p>\n<p>A man, 21, reported that a black iPod touch and a cell phone charger were stolen from his vehicle parked on the 1900 block of Smallwood Drive sometime overnight.<\/p>\n<p>A woman, 22, reported that someone stole two purses and damaged her vehicle parked on the 500 block of North West Street around 2:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>A 63-year-old man reported someone stole a black briefcase with miscellaneous papers from his car parked on the 2100 block of Royal Oaks Drive around 2:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Someone stole a Woodstock T-shirt and bathing suit trunks out of a vehicle parked at the 2100 block of Royal Oaks Drive around 2:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>A man, 55, reported that someone stole a briefcase, fanny pack, GPS, wallet, United States and Canadian currency, a passport, and a Blackberry Curve from a vehicle parked on the 2100 block of Royal Oaks Drive around 2:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>A man, 33, reported that someone stole a 2005 Dodge Magnum from a home on the 6400 block of Dry Forks Lane around 5:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>At 5:30 a.m. someone stole two iPod Nanos from a home on the 6400 block of Dry Fork Lane.<\/p>\n<p>At about 6 a.m. someone stole a change dispenser mounted to the cash register from a Sheetz gas station at 5200 New Bern Ave.<\/p>\n<p>A woman, 19, reported that someone stole $300 worth of jewelry from an apartment on the 3300 block of Quail Hollow Drive between 7:30 and 11:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>At about 9 a.m. a woman, 38, reported that someone stole two televisions, $6,000 worth of gold jewelry and $2,000 in telephone cards from La Cocina de Mama Greta located at 1604 N. Market Drive.<\/p>\n<p>Between 10:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., someone broke into a home on the 6000 block of Sentinel Drive and stole multiple pieces of jewelry, a computer, an iPod, a Playstation and other items totaling $6,704.<\/p>\n<p>Three women were arrested for shoplifting items worth $340 from a Sears department store around 12 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Between noon and 1 p.m., four men were charged with carrying concealed weapons in the vicinity of 300 Dacian Rd.<\/p>\n<p>Someone stole one toy gun from Wal-Mart at 1725 New Hope Church Rd. around 12:45 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>A woman, 57, reported that between 2 and 3 p.m., someone broke into a 2000 Mercedes CLK-55 parked at 9600 Falls of Neuse Rd. and stole a GPS unit.<\/p>\n<p>A doctor at Duke Raleigh Hospital reported that someone was communicating threats to a patient between 1:30 and 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>A 42-year-old woman reported that someone stole $10 from her as she was walking on the 1300 block of Battery Drive at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>At about 5 p.m. someone stole four candy bars from the Food Lion at 1601 Cross Link Road.<\/p>\n<p>At 5:18 p.m. a woman, 50, reported that someone created a six-inch hole in the drywall of her home.<\/p>\n<p>A man, 37, was arrested for stealing a pack of BBQ pork from the Food Lion at 3416 Poole Rd. at 7:42 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Someone reported shots fired around 9 p.m. on the 7000 block of Sandy Forks Road.<\/p>\n<p>A woman, 19, reported that someone robbed her with a firearm around 11:10 p.m. at an apartment located on the 3800 block of Bonneville Court.<\/p>\n<p>A woman, 30, reported that someone stole a white Macbook from a residence on the 2200 block of Bernard Street between 8 a.m. and 11:17 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police shot a man after a standoff today in West Raleigh.
