{"id":43228,"date":"2015-11-09T07:13:40","date_gmt":"2015-11-09T12:13:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/raleighpublicrecord.org\/?p=43228"},"modified":"2015-11-09T07:35:13","modified_gmt":"2015-11-09T12:35:13","slug":"raleighite-rescued-from-downtown-rooftop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/news\/2015\/11\/09\/raleighite-rescued-from-downtown-rooftop\/","title":{"rendered":"Raleighite Rescued From Downtown Rooftop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Less than a week after restrictions were lifted on late-night sidewalk use\u00a0for downtown Raleigh bars and restaurants, one man this weekend seemed intent on reinforcing the &#8220;DrunkTown&#8221; stereotype at the heart of the sidewalk-drinking controversy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-43107\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/firetruck1-771x514.jpg\" alt=\"firetruck1\" width=\"771\" height=\"514\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/firetruck1-771x514.jpg 771w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/firetruck1-336x224.jpg 336w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/firetruck1-1170x780.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At approximately 10:11 a.m. on Sunday, the Raleigh Police Department received a call for service on West Davie Street following reports of a man who was stuck\u00a0on either the rooftop or a windowsill ledge of a downtown building.<\/p>\n<p>By 10:30 a.m., the portion of West Davie between Fayetteville and Salisbury was blocked off by a handful of\u00a0police cars and a ladder truck from the Raleigh Fire Department. Several bystanders had gathered to watch as a fireman helped escort a man, who appeared to have been sitting just outside a second-story window of the Sir Walter apartment building, down the ladder.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-43104\" src=\"http:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/firetruck4-771x629.jpg\" alt=\"firetruck4\" width=\"771\" height=\"629\" srcset=\"https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/firetruck4-771x629.jpg 771w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/firetruck4-336x274.jpg 336w, https:\/\/theraleighcommons.org\/raleighpublicrecord\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/firetruck4-1170x954.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 771px) 100vw, 771px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An officer on the scene told this reporter that &#8220;we&#8217;ve got everything under control,&#8221; but did not elaborate further.<\/p>\n<p>Jim Sughrue, the director of Public Affairs for the Raleigh Police Department,\u00a0confirmed with\u00a0the Record that &#8220;our call location was recorded as 319 Fayetteville St. at <span class=\"aBn\" data-term=\"goog_1416031803\"><span class=\"aQJ\">10:11 a.m.<\/span><\/span>, although I\u2019m not sure exactly where it occurred \u2014 Hudson Condos, Capital Bank, &#8216;between Salisbury and Fayetteville above bail bonds office&#8217; and 15 W.
