Peter Lamb has been living music and more particularly, jazz, his entire life and is one of the major forces in jazz for the Triangle. Peter is masterful on the Sax and has surrounded himself with a wonderful group of musicians; Mark Wells on Keys and a most excellent vocalist, Dr. Strong on Trumpet, Bassist George Knott and Drummer Stephen Coffman round out the group. This is a definite MUST for jazz lovers in the area. Come early, have a wonderful dinner, stay late and dance with the band and enjoy whomever Peter has brought along to sit in. This is one of the true gems in our musical fabric.<\/p>\n<p>Confetti Rhetoric Regiment (Funk\/Hip-Hop\/Experimental) \u2013 Pourhouse &#8211; 10 p.m.\/Cover $7<br \/>\nOne of the more intriguing shows in the area this week.\u00a0 This group has built a good following with their funky mix of music that covers Funk, Hip-Hop, Rock into a fusion that while unique, works and truly showcases the immense talent of these guys. It\u2019s great grooving music that should draw a fairly decent and lively crowd. Photo credit: Zoogma. <\/p><\/div><\/center><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 3\/17<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zoogma.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Zoogma<\/a> w\/ <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/kingator09\" target=\"_blank\">Kingator <\/a>(Electronica\/Jam\/Experimental) \u2013 Pourhouse &#8211; 9 p.m. Show\/$8 Cover<br \/>\nIn a night overflowing with \u201cCeltic\u201d music and everyone claiming to be Irish (even though St. Patrick was actually a French Missionary), this show is an Oasis from the madness going on elsewhere.\u00a0 Zoogma is an amazing group that is along the same lines of Pretty Lights &amp; Archnemesis except they have an added twist &#8211; Rock.\u00a0 It\u2019s great stuff and high-energy so expect a lot of glowsticks and crazy dancing. It&#8217;s the perfect start to the weekend!\u00a0 Kingator will open the evening with their version funk\/jam. They are a great local representation of Jam band great Particle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/old-habits.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Old Habits<\/a> (Folk\/Bluegrass) \u2013 42nd Street &#8211; 9 p.m.\/No Cover<br \/>\nLocal Folk Band favorite Old Habits will light up 42nd St. for a great night of Folk\/Bluegrass music.\u00a0 Craig possesses a great talent for harmonization with his band mates as well as the stage presence to command your attention for long periods of time. Photo credit: East Carolina University.<\/p><\/div><\/center><\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 3\/18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\" http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/theethnographers\" target=\"_blank\">The Ethnographers<\/a> (Indie) \u2013 The Brewery &#8211; 9 p.m.<br \/>\nThis Greenville-based indie band can wow you at the first song (such as Grandfather Said).\u00a0 The vocals are simply superb and crystal clear, which is something that you don\u2019t always get in this genre.\u00a0 A great group with powerhouse vocals and solid instrumentation to back it up, it&#8217;s definitely worth checking out on a Friday night.\u00a0 American Joy and Eureka California open, so expect a 10:30-11 start for Ethnographers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\" http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/dashucks\" target=\"_blank\">The Shucks<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/possumjenkinsband.com\/the-band\/\" target=\"_blank\">Possum Jenkins<\/a> (Americana\/Roots\/Folk) \u2013\u00a0 Deep South The Bar &#8211; 9 p.m.\/$12 Cover<br \/>\nYet another Triangle delight, The Shucks are a great band for an easy going night (but can easily get you ramped up).\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure that I can exactly pinpoint this band as you get so much in their music.\u00a0 From Honky Tonk, to Folk Rock to Americana, this band covers so much ground that before you know it, the set is over.\u00a0 Crisp, clear vocals yet harmonization for the ballads &#8212; it\u2019s a country siren.\u00a0\u00a0 This is a great group that is highly recommended for those of you with a honky tonk\/folk itch to scratch. Triad based Folk\/Souhern Rock specialists Possum Jenkins open the evening.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\" http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/bigdaddyloveband\" target=\"_blank\">Big Daddy Love<\/a> (Jam\/Funk\/Folk Rock) \u2013 Southland Ballroom &#8211; 9:30 p.m.\/$10 Cover<br \/>\nThis Asheville-based jam band has developed a lively following here during the past few months.\u00a0 If you are in mood for some jam with a side of Funk, this is the outing and band for you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday 3\/19<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/zegg\" target=\"_blank\">Zegg<\/a> (Jam) \u2013 The Big Easy &#8211; 10 p.m.\/No Cover<br \/>\nThis Jam band features traces of funk, and these guys are stalwarts of the Raleigh scene.\u00a0 Come check out their jam session which will feature both originals and covers for a rockin&#8217; night.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/polvotheband\" target=\"_blank\">Polvo<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/wildwildgeesemusic\" target=\"_blank\">Wild Wild Geese<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/freeelectricstate.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Free Electric State<\/a> (Indie\/Experimental) \u2013 Kings Barcade &#8211; 10 p.m.\/$10 Cover<br \/>\nThree local Indie groups are ready to blow the windows out of Kings.\u00a0 Pay particular attention to Free Electric State because has they have a brand of Indie with a bit of Trance mixed in. They should be the final band of the evening so you will be ready to dance.
