On tap for the December 2nd meeting:<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hillsborough and Morgan streets roundabout design is back in front of council for final approval. The design consultant is more than halfway done and city staff recommends council approve the plan so far and put the project out for bidding.<\/span><\/p>\n

A city consultant will present the initial design for the new city government complex and public safety center.<\/span><\/p>\n

Budget and Economic Development Committee:<\/span>
\nThe downtown parking report went to the BED after council’s last meeting and the committee is now recommending that the city take over the parking program and enforcement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Planning:<\/span>
\nThe Planning Commission recommends the council reject the text change to prevent new pawn shops from opening in Buffer Commercial, Shopping Center and Neighborhood Business districts.<\/span><\/p>\n

The commission does think the new requirements for submitting new neighborhood conservation overlay districts should go to a public hearing. The new regulation would require at least 60 percent of property owners who represent 60 percent of the actual land in a neighborhood to sign a petition for the rezoning.<\/span><\/p>\n

From the consent agenda:<\/span>
\nCouncil is expected to approve the ever-amended agreement with St. Augustine’s College to build a new $1-million track and field facility. It’s on track to be done by 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

Council is also expected to pass a bond package to pay for the Hillsborough Street roundabouts and sustainability projects. If passed, the bond measure will go to a public hearing in January.<\/span><\/p>\n

More than 70 stop signs across the city are also on tap for approval.<\/span>
