In a move that is \u00a0no doubt indicative of the success of its latest\u00a0menu offering the Quesalupa, plans have recently been unveiled for Raleigh’s 10th and newest location of the venerable “Mexican” fast-food chain Taco Bell.<\/p>\n

The new Taco Bell will be built on that dirt parcel in the Northeast corner of the shopping center<\/p><\/div>\n

Owned and operated by Luihn Foods, the new restaurant is set\u00a0to be located at 6300 Battle Bridge Road, an undeveloped piece of land within the Battle Bridge Shopping Center in Southeast Raleigh off Rock Quarry Road.<\/p>\n

Luihn Foods is the owner\/operator of a number of Raleigh Taco Bell and KFC locations, including two Taco Bells and a KFC on Capital Boulevard and two KFC\/Taco Bell joints on Poole\u00a0and Falls of Neuse Road. The company owns a total of 85 restaurants located throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Florida.<\/p>\n

Judging by the site plans, this new location won’t differ much from any of the existing ones: a 2,101 square-foot building with a 44-space parking lot, a drive-thru and a 55-foot-tall bronze statue of Gidget the chihuahua. Although architectural drawings are at this point unavailable, the location will no doubt be<\/p>\n

The addition of Taco Bell will likely\u00a0solidify the Shoppes at Battle Bridge as one of Raleigh’s premier dining locations, adding to its already stellar mix of offerings that currently includes a McDonald’s, a Pizza Hut, a Subway and Taste of China.<\/p>\n

Site plans were drawn up by Raleigh firm Commercial Site Design. Contractors eager to bid on its eventual construction, however, should\u00a0know that\u00a0of the five Taco Bell renovations in Raleigh over the past three years I was able to locate,\u00a0one was handled by an in-house firm\u00a0two by JR Leonard, two by Varnedoe Construction and one by a company named Amish Concern.<\/p>\n

The one handled by Amish Concern was actually for a “storage shed” at the 2748 Capital Boulevard location, which would be slightly more fitting if it was a “storage barn,” but I digress.<\/p>\n

As the newest location is already zoned Neighborhood Mixed Use, it appears the new Taco Bell will require only an administrative approval from City staff before it moves forward,\u00a0which likely means Southeast Raleigh residents will be enjoying their Doritos Locos tacos sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
