(Photo Courtesy of Band) <\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 6\/17<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bonghitsforjesus.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bong Hits for Jesus<\/a> \u2013 Dive Bar (Funk\/Rock) <\/strong><strong>\u2013 <\/strong><strong>10 p.m. | $5<\/strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em>This Philly-based band has deep and driving funk sounds and will funk up the Dive Bar for the start of the weekend.\u00a0 This show is for the funk lovers in the area. It&#8217;s the perfect show on a Friday to experience these guys as they toy with funk and rock and jam out the night.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/theclaypigeons\" target=\"_blank\">Clay Pigeons<\/a>, Yo Mamas Big Fat Booty Band \u2013 The Pour House (Funk\/Folk) <\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>\u2013 <\/strong><strong>10 p.m. | $12<\/strong><br \/>\nAn interesting combination of two different bands in the same evening. But in a strange way, they share a similar energy and it creates a night of music with a little something for everyone.\u00a0 New York City&#8217;s Clay Pigeons have a indie sound that has a bit of a retro feel. Maybe it\u2019s the echo vocals. Whatever it is, it\u2019s a great hook and thankfully it doesn\u2019t stop there. Solid driving guitars round out the sound and it will make for a great set of music.\u00a0 Asheville&#8217;s Yo Mamas Big Fat Booty Band bring a Western NC funk sound infused with psychedelic jam rock.\u00a0 They are stalwarts on the Funk scene in Western NC and they have a loyal and large following \u2013 be prepared for some serious music and dancing!<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maryselvidge.com\/music\" target=\"_blank\">Mary Selvidge<\/a>, Porter Hall, Steve Howell &amp; The Lonesome Teardrops (Country\/Americana) &#8211; 10 p.m. | $10<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em>This is the closest Raleigh will come to a good ole Honky Tonk this week. (Photo Courtesy of Michael Doucet) <\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, 6\/18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/beausoleilcajunband\" target=\"_blank\">Beau Soleil avec Michael Doucet <\/a>\u2013 \u00a0North   Carolina Museum of Art (Cajun) &#8211; 8 p.m. | $15-$25 <\/strong><strong> <\/strong><br \/>\nIn what is billed as \u201cThe World\u2019s Best Cajun Band,&#8221; these Grammy Winners from Lafayette, Louisiana are the second\u00a0 part of the 2011 \u201cLouisiana Dance Party at NCMA.\u00a0 This band has been through a few changes over the years with the likes of Mary Chapin Carpenter and Michael Doucet and have had a few top 20 hits along the way to boot.\u00a0 Through out their 30+ year existence they have kept true to one thing \u2013 the truly unique Cajun music experience \u2013 blending elements on New Orleans Jazz, Zydeco, Country and Blues into their Louisiana Folk sound.\u00a0 The result is a masterful sound that encourages easy listening and of course, Dancing avec the Cajun Deux-step. These guys are a true treasure and this is NOT a show to be missed.<em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/luego\" target=\"_blank\">Luego<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/annuals\" target=\"_blank\">The Annuals<\/a>, Jenna &amp; The Jintlemen \u2013 Kings Barcade (Indie) &#8211; 9:30 p.m. | $8<\/strong><br \/>\nThree great local indie bands come to Kings for a great night of music! Luego, The Annuals and Jenna &amp; The Jintlemen all have different styles, but they are all variations of a theme: solid Indie Rock.\u00a0 Expect great vocals and indie\/folk from Luego, a little more intense Rock theme from Annuals and then a little of both from Jenna and her boys.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/theheavypets\" target=\"_blank\">Heavy Pets<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/bubonikfunk\" target=\"_blank\">Bubonik Funk<\/a> \u2013 Southland Ballroom (Funk\/Jam) &#8211; 10 p.m. | $10<\/strong><br \/>\nTHE place in town to be for Jam\/Funk for tonight, especially for the Phish afterparty.\u00a0 Ft. Lauderdale based Heavy Pets is on an extended East Coast tour that thus far has been extremely successful, including a gig at Bonnaroo.\u00a0 Come jam out with their contagious, sing-along, dance-along style. (Photo Courtesy of Band) <\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunday \u2013 6\/19<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/miraclefortress\" target=\"_blank\">Miracle Fortress<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.last.fm\/music\/Motor+Skills\" target=\"_blank\">Motor Skills<\/a> \u2013 Kings Barcade (House\/Electronica) &#8211; 9:30 p.m. | $6<\/strong><br \/>\nTwo great acts that will stretch the limits of House\/Electronica.\u00a0 Montreal-based Miracle Fortress is back on tour promoting a second album after their very successful debut.\u00a0 They mix elements of house, trace and simple electronica that creates and easy listening sound. I listen to this and it brings me back to my days of being in a Montreal bookstore or the boutiques on Blvd St. Laurent.\u00a0 This is great stuff and is not to be missed if you have any interest in this style of music. If you like <strong>The Hood Internet<\/strong> you will love this sound, although it&#8217;s a little more laid back. Local band Motor Skills will open the evening.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/borgore\" target=\"_blank\">Borgore<\/a> \u2013 Lincoln Theatre (Dance\/Electronica) &#8211; 8 p.m. | $16<\/strong><br \/>\nCertainly one the Elite artists of the turntable, this Israeli from Tel Aviv is on a World Tour and is ready to blow out the doors of the Lincoln Theatre.\u00a0 If you love <strong>Archnemisis, Pretty Lights or Girl Talk<\/strong>, you will love this show.\u00a0 Blending elements of house, techno and hip-hop &#8211;
