They also released a slate of endorsements for Raleigh City Council and Wake County School Board seats.

McFarlane represents District A on the city council and is registered as an Independent. There are no registered Democrats running for mayor. Wake Democrats also endorsed Randy Stagner, another registered Independent, to fill McFarlane’s District A seat and incumbents Russ Stephenson and Mary-Ann Baldwin for at-large seats on the council.

Rounding out the city council endorsements, the party endorsed Eugene Weeks for District C and Thomas Crowder, who is running unopposed for District D. Weeks replaced James West in the middle of his term when West went to take over Harold Webb’s seat on the Wake County Commission. Webb had a stroke last year and stepped down from the commission.

On school board, the party endorsed five candidates who have all been critical of the current board majority’s Republican-backed efforts to eliminate student assignment based on socio-economics. Only one seat is up for grabs from the conservative majority. The party endorsed Susan Evans to run against board chair Ron Margiotta.

Wake Republicans released their endorsements twoweeks ago.

The full list of Wake Democratic Party endorsements:

City Council
Mayor: Nancy McFarlane
At-Large: Mary-Ann Baldwin and Russ Stephenson
District A: Randy Stagner
District C: Eugene Weeks
District D: Thomas Crowder

School Board
District 3: Kevin Hill
District 4: Keith Sutton
District 5: Jim Martin
District 6: Christine Kushner
District 8: Susan Evans

Maps of Wake County School Board and City Council districts.
