June 21, 2016 Council Work & Afternoon Sessions
At their most recent meeting, City Councilors approved Phase I of a redevelopment plan for Chavis Park, granted a waiver for a North Raleigh redevelopment case and discussed a controversial rezoning case for a Christian Pregnancy Center on Jones Franklin — although they will not vote on the case until July 5.

June 7, 2016 Council Afternoon & Evening Sessions
In a surprise move, Councilors voted 4-4 on whether to approve a text change legalizing short-term rentals, a vote that will send the matter back to the drawing board. Plus: everything else that happened over the five and a half hours that Council met for on Tuesday. 

May 17, 2016 Council Work Session & Afternoon Meeting
Councilors on Tuesday heard updates on the City’s latest Bike Plan and received a breakdown of the FY2017 budget. Plus: a vote to rebid Moore Square, and the approval of an Oberlin Road rezoning case.  

May 10, 2016 Council Work Session
City Council met this week for a work session, where they discussed Southeast Raleigh Tennis Courts, greener stormwater control measures and the Moore Square Park renovation project.

May 3, 2016 Council Meeting
Councilors this week tackled a wide variety of issues, ranging from affordable housing to upscale wedding venues and a call for greater police accountability and a citizens oversight board.

April 19, 2016 Council Meeting
Councilors had a full day Tuesday, discussing everything from the planning of Dix Park to the second phase of renovations for Hillsborough Street. Plus: a resolution on HB2, and a decision that killed a planned mixed-use development on Hillsborough Street.

April 5, 2016 Council Meeting
A relatively short and uneventful afternoon session of City Council was combined with a lengthy, agenda-packed evening session where Councilors heard five rezoning cases and eight public petitions from citizens, including a lengthy dialogue on police accountability in Raleigh.

City Council discussed everything from body-worn police cameras to designated food truck zones and an update on the City’s acquisition of Dix Park.

City Council held two brief sessions March 1, where they approved a new dangerous dog ordinance and appropriated funds to Advance Community Health and Wake up Wake County.

City Councilors discussed a number of issues February 1, including a new Arts Plan, a few text changes and rezonings plus and the all-important issue of shortening the names of one of its committees.

On January 16, City Councilors issued a rezoning approval, entered into further discussion of the dangerous dog ordinance and disagreed over a two-hour parking restriction.
