Editor’s note: Welcome to the new Raleigh Public Record police blotter. The information below comes from the Raleigh Police Department. The blotter is not meant to report on everything that the RPD responds to, but instead is meant to give a representative sample of what Raleigh’s police responded to the day before. For now, this will run 5 days a week, but we may expand in the coming weeks to run every day. An anonymous caller reported shots fired at Pool Road and Ralph Drive at about 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Police arrested a 28-year-old man for assaulting a 31-year-old woman Tuesday night on Shadow Lane Drive.
Someone stole an ’87 Chevy Suburban from Green Road late Tuesday night.
Police arrested a 36-year-old man for possessing opium or cocaine derivatives at 200 N. Fisher St. at about 11 p.m. Tuesday.
RPD officers responded to a suicide attempt on North Hills Drive early Wednesday morning.
Police arrested a 31-year-old man for selling drugs on S. Person Street.
A sign of the increasing price of cigarettes: someone stole a carton of Newports valued at about $45 from a gas station on Glenwood Avenue in the Five Points neighborhood.
Someone broke a window on Great Laurel Drive and stole a Mac laptop, an IBM Thinkpad and a safe Tuesday night.
Late Wednesday night, someone stole a television, $145 and four pairs of shoes from an apartment on Sandy Forks Road.
An eclectic smoker stole three cartons of cigarettes from a Capital Boulevard gas station: a carton of Newports, a carton of Marlboro Lights and a carton of Camel Lights.
Look out for someone paying with lots and lots of change. Someone stole a laptop, a video camera and $50 in change from an apartment on Smallwood Drive late Tuesday night.
Police pulled over a 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman for seat belt violations and ended up arresting them for selling pot.
The RPD arrested a 36-year-old man for selling pot at an apartment on Stewart Street.
Cooking out? Police arrested a 45-year-old man for stealing more than $70 worth of steaks from the Food Lion on New Bern Avenue Tuesday morning.
Police arrested a 22-year-old North Hills woman for assaulting a 24-year-old man with a knife Tuesday afternoon.
An assailant jumped a 21-year-old woman on Fayetteville Street Tuesday afternoon and stole her cell phone.
Someone broke a rear bedroom window at the Cameron Garden Apartments on Navaho Drive early Tuesday morning. Nothing was stolen.
A representative from Hunter Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association reported that someone had been embezzling from the school from 2006 until 2008.
Over the weekend, someone did $100 in damage to the entrance sign to the Stone Neighborhood.

Police arrested a 43-year-old woman for shoplifting two Polo brand shirts, one pink and the other yellow, at a New Bern Avenue store Monday night.
Someone assaulted a 20-year-old woman on East Martin Street Monday night.
A thief walked off with a wood lattice valued at less than $50 from a back porch on Brockton Drive just after 10 Monday night.
Police arrested a 21-year-old man on kidnapping charges involving a 19-year-old St. Aug student.
A 25-year-old man living on Kent Drive reported his X-Box 360 stolen last weekend.
Police arrested an 18-year-old woman for opium, cocaine and derivative possession Monday afternoon on Angelus Drive.
The RPD arrested a 28-year-old man for marijuana possession early Tuesday morning while he was sitting in a car on Dansey Drive.
A 16-year-old girl from Cardinal Grove Boulevard reported that she had been abused at home last week. No one was arrested.
Police arrested a 28-year-old Cary man for stealing the necessities–a 12-pack of beer and a 4-pack of toilet paper–from a Western Boulevard Food Lion.
RPD officers arrested two 17-year-old women for stealing earrings, a hoodie and white sunglasses, all valued at just over $200, from a Belks store on Old Wake Forest Road.
