The Raleigh City Council is looking for a new District C representative. James West, who represented the southeast Raleigh district, recently resigned his seat on the city council to take over for Harold Webb on the Wake County Board of Commissioners.

Webb, who chaired the county commission, resigned his post two weeks ago because of health problems related to a stroke he suffered earlier this year.

City council is down to seven members right now, but not for long. They expect to appoint a new District C representative at their October 5 meeting to serve the remainder of West’s term, which lasts through the end of 2011.

Mayor Charles Meeker said yesterday that anyone who wants to be considered for the open seat should submit resumes by Monday, October 4. Candidates for the seat will be given a chance to address the council the next day and councilors will vote that night during their regular evening session.
