The Wake County Republican Party Tuesday announced its endorsements for the school board and Raleigh City Council election this fall.
The party’s executive committee endorsed Billie Redmond for mayor. Redmond will take on current councilor Nancy McFarlane and fellow Republican Dr. Randall Williams.
Between the two races this fall, the Republican Party is only backing two incumbent candidates. John Odom represents District B on the Raleigh City Council and is running unopposed.
Ron Margiotta chairs the Wake school board and has been a leading proponent for the Republican majority on the board. He will face Susan Evans of Apex.
Technically, the elections are nonpartisan, but parties can still endorse candidates and spend money to help campaigns.
Early voting begins Sept. 22 and the election is Oct.11.
