After a 10-year hiatus, city officials are petitioning the state for a permit to spread treated sewage sludge on city fields near the Neuse River Wastewater Plant.
City officials will break ground this summer on a new 600-acre park that will feature five miles of mountain biking trails, a classroom, disc golf, picnic shelters and other amenities. The “metro” Forest Ridge Park is expected to draw visitors from around the Triangle.
Raleigh residents started paying a new fee on their water bills last year to make up for a drop in funding from the state for land conservation around the Falls Lake watershed.
