Council Roundup: Councilors voted Tuesday to end the toilet rebate program and approved updates for the Neighborhood Traffic Calming program. They granted a 30-day permit for a controversial road closure, and approved a pilot program for “parklets” in downtown Raleigh.
Planning Commissioners this week approved the rezoning of a Hillsborough Street building and a piece of land on Poole Road, sent a rezoning case for Ray Road and Bland Road to the Committee of the Whole, and deferred the rezoning of Ebenezer Church Road. They approved expansion plans for Our Lady of Lourdes as well as the new Sunshine Building.

There is a shortage of affordable housing in Raleigh. Without a way to track both city-funded and privately owned affordable housing projects, the city is unaware of the full scope of the problem.
