Southeast CAC Meeting Minutes Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Barwell Community Center. Meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Ulysses Lane. Tim Sit and Jonathan Edwards were also present. Matt Johnston, Assistant Director Barwell Rd. Community Center, gave the presentation from Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources.

He stated that Summer Camp was in its 4th week and continuing while 3 on 3 basketball for persons 50+ would resume by the end of July.
Meeting of the Southeast CAC was held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Worthdale Community Center at 7:00 pm. Meeting was called to order by Recording Secretary Tim Sit who presided over the meeting. Parks, Rec & Cultural Resources report was given by Jermaine Johnson Worthdale Center (Director Carlttea Moore is on medical leave) 2014 Summer Camp has gone smoothly without issues and will end on Friday, August 15th. Little League and Mighty Mites are taking applications. Parking lot has been paved Center will be closed for renovations October 2014-January 2015 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk will be held October 3rd at Worthdale
Social scheduled for October 3rd from 7-9 pm will be cancelled
Officer R.A. Lee of Raleigh Police Department summarized police report that was distributed. He stated that thefts from vehicles have been a big issue over the past month; residential break-ins/burglaries are also up. Officer Lee encouraged residents to lock homes and vehicles and do not leave valuables in cars that are visible to passersby or those looking to break in vehicles.

Newly elected CAC Chair Tim Sit presided over meeting. Also present were Viola Bullock and Stacey Lundy filling in for Jonathan Edwards. Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources report was given by Matt Johnson who shared the following events at Barwell Road Community Center: Classes for children, ages 4-14 will be held on Tuesdays; target is homeschooled children $5 per class Snag Golf Class will start in February 2015 Pumpkin Fest on October 17th from 6:30-8:30 pm Volleyball class on Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 pm
Adopt-A-Park & Volunteer Programs was presented by Cindy Trumbower, Resource Development Manager, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources. Ms. Trumbower shared that Adopt-A-Park and other programs with PRCR need lots of Volunteers and asked that people contact her to find out more about these opportunities. She stated that volunteers are needed for the “Festival in Motion” that will take place at the Walnut Creek Wetlands Center on Saturday, September 27th from 10:00am -2:00 pm.
Chairperson Tim Sit presided over monthly meeting of Southeast CAC that was held at Worthdale Center on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
Raleigh Police Report was given by Officer Williams who reported that larcenies and burglaries continue to top list of crimes in residential areas. Larcenies from vehicles topped the list with some vehicles being unlocked. Police conducted speed checks in the Barwell Rd. area and issued 39 citations in the process. Wake County Sheriff report was given by Deputy Phillip Sutton.
Opening remarks for the November 13, 2014 Southeast CAC meeting were made by Chairperson Tim Sit. The meeting was held at Barwell Road Community Center at 7:00 p.m.
Parks & Recreation and Cultural Resources report was given by staff. Programs and events included: (1) adult basketball opening next week; (2) youth basketball is going well; (3) 50+ baseball play in the making; (4) open volleyball play on Sunday; (5) Leisure Ledgers are now available. Raleigh Police Report was given by Officer Roderick Lee who reported that break-ins and crimes are down a little from prior months; however, Officer Lee continued to warn residents to secure property and especially vehicles. Items from break-ins and home burglaries include electronic devices.
Monthly meeting of the SE CAC was held on December 11, 2014 at Barwell Road with Chair Tim Sit presiding. Others present were Vice Chairs Ulysses Lane and Bill Lynn, Secretary Viola Bullock and Community Specialist Jonathan Edwards. Raleigh Police Report was given by Officer Roderick Lee who cautioned residents about scams taking place through phone calls that may include false information such as (1) checks in the mail; (2) persons impersonating Police or Sheriff who will ask resident to wire money to help someone in jail. Officer Lee stated that home and vehicle burglaries/larcenies are still going on and he asked residents to be very careful in securing properties. Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources report was given by staff member Matt Johnston who reported that ongoing activities at Barwell include adult basketball, youth activities and meet/greet Santa.
Monthly meeting of the SE CAC was held on January 8th, 2015 at Barwell Road Community Center with Chair Tim Sit presiding and Vice Chair Ulysses Lane in attendance. Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Report was given by Tori Vodka, Director. She reported on Programs and events at the center. New activities included Indoor Youth Golf Instruction and Youth Volleyball classes. Mr. Lane asked for an update on the needs Survey that was being developed by PRCR staff for Barwell Road Community Center and Park.
Meeting of the Southeast CAC was held on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Barwell Road Community Center. Meeting was called to order by Chair Tim Sit. Parks, Rec. & Cultural Resources report was given by Carletta Moore, Director of the Worthdale Community Center. She shared that renovations to the Worthdale Center are moving along well and expected completion will be around the end of April or first of May.
Meeting of the Southeast CAC was held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 7:00 pm at the Barwell Road Community Center. Meeting was called to order by Chair Tim Sit. Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources report was given by Matt Johnston. Raleigh Police Department report was given by Officer R. A. Lee who reported that residential larcenies were down; however vehicle larcenies are still on the rise, including two motor vehicle thefts. He continued to caution everyone to lock vehicles and remove items from view in cars that may be taken.
