Early Thursday morning an armed man barricaded himself inside a Rock Quarry Road home after a domestic dispute. Police closed the road until they took Robert Gray, 47, into custody around dawn this morning. More from the Raleigh Police Department:
“At approximately 1:45 a.m. today, Raleigh Police Department officers responded to a domestic dispute call at 3316 Rock Quarry Road. The suspect in the case, Robert Eugene Gay (DOB 3/24/62) was inside the residence when the officers arrived and was reported to be armed with a handgun. The victim in the case, Gay’s wife, Kelli Michelle Gay, 37, and two male minor children, ages 9 and 11, were no longer in the residence.
“A command post was established and appropriate steps and precautions were taken as RPD personnel worked successfully to resolve the matter without further incident.
“Upon being taken into custody by members of the department’s Selective Enforcement Unit, the suspect was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, assault on a female, assault by pointing a firearm, and communicating threats.”

Just after midnight police arrested a woman, 28, for pot possession from a home on the 4200 block of Standing Rock Way.
Someone assaulted a 29-year-old woman outside a home one the 500 block of Haywood Street at about 10:25 Wednesday morning.
At about 2:20 Wednesday afternoon someone assaulted a 19-year-old woman on the 2800 block of Wake Forest Road.
Police arrested a 49-year-old man for trying to steal two 24 packs of beer from a Food Lion on the 3900 block of Western Boulevard at 5:30 p.m.
At about 9:15 p.m. someone stole $250 from a Champions Pizza on the 2200 block of Avent Ferry Road.
Someone stole a laptop, a computer bag and a wallet from a man, 32, on the 1500 block of Gorman Street at about 9:25 p.m.
