Raleigh residents are invited to support local journalism with Piedmont Laureate and author
Huler, the author of “On the Grid,” will discuss “Infrastructure: You Get What You Pay For” at a fundraising event for the Raleigh Public Record. The event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. June 28 at Dos Taquitos Centro, 106 S. Wilmington St.
Our systems of infrastructure are not only shrouded in mystery, many are woefully out of date, Huler said.
In his latest book, Huler explores the systems that sustain our way of life, starting from his own quarter of an acre in North Carolina and traveling as far as Ancient Rome.
Join Huler as he discusses what happens when we neglect infrastructure, drawing parallels to the role free online news is playing in journalism.
The event is $20 per person. Heavy hors d’oeurves will be provided. RSVP via Facebook.
