The Akron Family is a folk/psychedelic/experimental rock band out of Brooklyn that has made a name for itself over the years playing with the likes of Megafaun and Dodo. They bring a unique sound that incorporates elements of folk, rock and experimental instrumentation that create a "psychedelic white noise." Intrigued? You should be. It showcases a sound that is not common in our area but certainly very interesting and worth a listen Saturday as they play at the Pourhouse. (Photo courtesy of The Akron Family)

Unknown Hinson is the King of County-Western Troubadours - a title he bestowed upon himself. Good thing it's true. This man is legend - having worked with the likes of Tom Petty and Lynyrd Skynyrd before moving on to do his own stuff. Playing Psychobilly tunes and certainly looking the part, he takes the stage on Friday at the Lincoln Theatre. This is a true treat - he doesn't come around very often so I would not miss this opportunity. (Photo Courtesy of SyncWeekly)
