With all precincts reporting Kevin Hill has won the race for the school board’s District 3 race. Hill took about 52 percent of the vote and Heather Losurdo has about 48 percent.

Mack Paul, chair of he Wake Democratic Party, is at Kevin Hill’s party at Milton’s on Six Forks Road. He said, “I was very nervous. This is a tough district. There were more votes that she could tap for this runoff. We knew we had to get everybody to come back out.”

With 24 of 26 precincts reporting Hill has an 873-vote lead with 52 percent of the vote.

With 14 of 26 precincts reporting the race is getting closer with about 54 percent for Hill and 46 percent for Losurdo, and only about 800 votes separating the two.

Heather Losurdo said she was out all day hitting the polls and talking to people. She said that the critical nature of the race got people out to vote. As she waits for the results she said that she is anxious “yet happy for this chapter to be closed.”

It’s official: You’ve had more early voting in the runoff for District 3 than the October election. Over the past couple weeks 1317 voters cast early ballots for the runoff, according to data provided by the Wake County Board of Elections. In the October election 1257 voted early or by absentee ballot. Here’s the bread down for the current numbers: 684 Dems, 334 GOP, 296 Unaffiliated, 3 Libertarians

One odd coincidence to start off this evening: both Hill and Losurdo are having their election night events at Milton’s. Losurdo will be at the Milton’s in Wakefield and Hill will be at the one on Six Forks.

Earlier today
Today is Election Day. In Raleigh, voters will settle the District 3 runoff between Kevin Hill and Heather Losurdo. Durham voters are also deciding on a half-cent sales tax that could influence the future of transit in the Triangle.
