The city attorney will present an ordinance on animal tethering to the council for their approval. Councilor Nancy McFarlane (District A) asked for a report from the city manager on animal tethering ordinances in North Carolina, and the manager gave that report at the last council meeting. The council could approve the new ordinance tomorrow, and no public hearing is necessary.
Council’s Budget and Economic Development committee will recommend the city draft an ordinance to prohibit parking on front yards. Committee members say driveways should be required for front-yard parking. See page 17 on the agenda below for more information.
