Water rates are back in front of council. Here’s what the agenda item says:

“The proposal to increase water and sewer rates by 17% has been discussed on several occasions. Various information has been supplied and it was directed that the item be placed on this agenda for further consideration.”

The Water Counservation Advisory Council will bring recommendations for long-term water conservation strategies to the council. The water council’s report also lays out its thoughts on water restrictions during a drought. Read the report below.

City Manager Russell Allen will present the idea for a public process to redevelop Moore Square. The three design phases are first, planning for the design contest; Second, have an open call for ideas; And third, hold a juried design contest. The first two phases will cost about $9,000 total and the competition phase will cost around $40,000.

The Parks, Recreation and Greenway Advisory Board will bring the master plan for Isabelle Cannon Park to council for approval. Read the plan here.

The Lightner Public Safety Center could move along with a vote to allow the city manager to hire a commissioning agent. The top four bids are :

The Raleigh Police Department is getting ready to move some of its downtown operations to clear out the current police station for demolition. The new downtown district office will be at 218 West Cabarrus. The council could vote to approve the lowest bid for upfitting the new station. Macallan construction had the winning bid at just over $1.2 million.

Council could also approve more than $375,000 for “modernization” of the three elevators in the municipal building at 222 Hargett St.
