I have been talking about this for years. For at least two years, I have been calling this the pinnacle of public engagement. It’s also further proof that I did not waste my youth, and same goes for you other children of the late ’70s and ’80s. It’s also added evidence to just how nerdy we can get here at the Record.
Do you remember Mystery Science Theater 3000? That’s MST3k for the initiated. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you’re missing out. Check it out. Essentially it’s two robots and a human watching old movies in their entirety and making fun, talking smack and generally being obnoxious while a random B movie plays on in front of them.
So we borrowed the idea and now we present to you…

I’d use MST3k, but I don’t want to get sued. So there you go.

The guilty parties here are me (Charles Duncan), City Hall reporter Ariella Monti and contributing editor James Borden. This is from the May 20 Raleigh City Council meeting. Enjoy.

P.S. City Council members and others—please know that this is for fun, any insults etc. should be taken in jest. But I know you all have a good sense of humor, so I’m not too worried about it.
