The Raleigh Historic Development Commission (RHDC) is seeking new members.
Qualified candidates are submitted as recommendations to Raleigh City Council. There will be a minimum of one vacancy on the commission starting July 1. Residents of Raleigh who are interested in being appointed to the commission are invited to submit letters of interest and resumes to the RHDC at rhdc@rhdc.org by April 15 for consideration or to contact City Council directly.
RHDC consists of 12 members appointed by City Council. All members should reside within the City’s corporate limits. The majority of the members shall have demonstrated special interest, experience, or education in history, architecture, historic preservation, archaeology, or related fields. At least one-fourth of the commission’s membership must either reside or own property in a Raleigh historic overlay district or that is designated as a Raleigh Historic Landmark. Terms are two years (July 1-June 30) with a maximum of three consecutive terms.
RHDC has four standing committees that direct the commission’s work: Certificate of Appropriateness (COA), Community Awareness, Nominations, and Research. For more information on the commission and its work program, visit www.rhdc.org.
