Raleigh-Durham International Airport announced it will open its renovated Terminal 1 April 13. The Airport Authority had delayed the opening due to unseasonably cold temperatures that impacted the construction of the terminal’s aircraft parking area.
RDU began construction on Terminal 1 in 2012 when it began a major modernization and renovation of the section of the building that opened in 1982. Southwest Airlines and AirTran will operate from the new building, which will feature more natural lighting, three works of art and 11 shops and restaurants.
