Early voting begins today for the May 6 Primary Election. Any eligible Wake County voter may visit an early voting location and cast a vote. Voters do not need an ID to vote.
Wake County is offering five locations for early voting this year, most open weekdays and Saturdays.
Changes in voting laws have reduced the number of early voting days from 17 to 10 and ended same-day registration, of which nearly 100,000 people took advantage in 2012. Same-day registration and voting is no longer allowed, and voters can also no longer vote a straight ticket for one party.
