Developers Line Up for Moore Square Area

Moore Square and the surrounding blocks are getting ready for a development boom with two new residential and mixed-use projects. The square has traditionally been a place for those in need to get services, but those organizations are moving out. The city has bought up substantial property on the east side of the square and has a $14 million rehab in the works for the park.

Council Adopts $707M Budget

Raleigh City Councilors adopted the budget for the next fiscal year, passing the $700 million mark for the first time. Property taxes will not increase, but sewer and solid waste fees are going up. The city will add back 40 jobs lost during the recession and give 3 percent merit raises to employees.

Court Shuts Down North Raleigh Party Mansion

A Wake County Judge recently shut down weekly parties in a small North Raleigh subdivision. Court documents state the weekend parties included hundreds of people, security guards, a cover at the door and expensive drinks in the South Florida-style mansion.
