Group Sues, Wants Debt Referendum

The Wake County Taxpayers Association filed a lawsuit against the City of Raleigh after it rejected a petition to add a debt referendum to the city’s charter.
Two years ago, 11.4 percent of voters in Wake County went to the polls for the Raleigh city council and school board elections. This year organizers hope the high profile school board race and an open mayoral seat will bring more voters to the polls.
Red light cameras were approved on a second vote and other city council happenings.
Councilors question the safety of outdoor seating, St. Augustine’s stadium building schedule, supportive housing and the new public art policy were all up for vote at Tuesday’s Council Meeting.
Passengers of area buses, including Capital Area Transit, will soon be able to see their bus’s arrival in real-time with GoTriangle’s GoLive program.
A rezoning application and the sale of city-owned property are just two things the council will vote on this Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Planning Commission approved rezoning a property on Oberlin Road and Clark Avenue so a mixed-use building could be developed.
