Is a self-supporting state agency. Their Foreclosure Prevention Fund program was established in 2010 by the US Department of Treasury’s Hardest Hit Fund to support North Carolina homeowners who have been faced with temporary financial hardship. Planning and Development Department
Is in the beginning stages of developing a citywide zoning map to support the recently adopted new UDO.

Chair, Jay Gudeman opened the meeting. Raleigh Police Department Crime Report
Officer Cochran provided the crime report for the area. Crime is down in our area. There were a few questions from residents in the Brookhaven area on crime prevention. Officer Cochran gave great tips on how to protect yourself and your property.

Chair Jay Gudeman opened the meeting. Raleigh Police Department Crime Report and Separate Presentation on How to Protect your Property from Burglary
Officer Cochran provided the crime report for the NW area. Crime has slightly increased due to the warm weather. There were a few car break-ins along Glenwood Avenue. Officer Cochran talked about ways to protect you home from burglary:
Keep the outside perimeter of your home well lit
Keep the bushes around the house trimmed
Home alarm yard signage visible
Window sensors
Striker plates for doors
Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources
Alisha Lacombe from Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources provided hand-outs to attendees regarding the summer programs offered by PR&C.

Chair Jay Gudeman opened the meeting. Raleigh Police Department Crime Report
Officer Cochran reported that the number of burglaries in the Northwest district decreased in the last month. The police noticed a small pattern. Some arrests were made. In response to a question Officer Cochran noted that Heroin has become an increasing problem in North Carolina, and he reminded attendees not to leave checks in the mailbox overnight.

Chair, Jay Gudeman opened the meeting. Raleigh Police Department Crime Report Captain Carrigan was unable to provide the crime report for the Northwest area because the city is currently upgrading their reporting system. He explained the difference between how the old system works versus the new system. With the new system in place, it will allow for a higher level of accuracy in report future crime reports. A passionate group of residents from the Laurel Hills area have concerns regarding traffic calming in their neighborhood.

Chair, Jay Gudeman opened the meeting. Raleigh Police Department Crime Report Because of the continuation of the city upgrading the reporting system, Captain Carrigan was unable to provide the crime report for the Northwest area. Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources No report-the New Leisure Ledger is now available. Traffic Calming presentation “From Petition to Implementation”
Tom Fiorello from Raleigh’s Public Works Department spoke on the process of traffic calming in city neighborhoods and how it’s implemented. First, the residents that live on the affected street can make a request to the city to have an evaluation conducted to determine how a particular street scores on the following 5 criteria:
At what speed is the majority of the traffic traveling (most important)
Volume of traffic that travels on the street daily
Pedestrian activity
How many speed-related accidents have occurred along the street
Roadway geometry/other road conditions
If a street reaches a score of at least 30% (out of 100%), the street will be included in the city’s project list.

Raleigh’s Housing and Neighborhood Preservation Department Report
Bryce Abernathy gave a report on neighborhood foreclosures in our area. Harrington Grove has a property located at 5504 Crossfield, which is currently in foreclosure.
