Our two demolitions for today are for residential homes, a subject we don’t normally cover here. However, both were, in a sense, nontraditional homes, so we thought we’d give them a quick look. First up was a $10,000 teardown for a 3,479 square foot “manufactured home not in park or court” located at 11904 Leesville Road. The demolition is actually part of a larger project, first detailed in rezoning case Z-3-15, which was approved by the City Council in May of last year. In March of 2015, the developers, Leesville Land LLC, appeared before the Planning Commission to discuss the case.
We take a look at three new building permits issued last week, including a new self-storage facility in Brier Creek, a parking deck for a new Glenwood Avenue apartment complex and a brand-new City of Raleigh fire station.
We take a look at some recent renovation projects around Raleigh, including a new location for Posh Nosh catering and an upgrade at the offices of Pendo on South Dawson Street.
The City is building a big, beautiful fence at the Moore Square parking deck in an effort to keep Raleigh bar goers out of sub-level P1, where they’ve been engaging in “unwanted activity.”
Demolition permits have been filed for a gas station’s car wash and a 1930s boardinghouse, both of them located on New Bern Avenue.
Permits have been issued for a new North Raleigh Sheetz, plus a new self-storage facility on Millbrook and an addition to the House of LIghts facility on Yonkers Road.
The City awarded a demolition contract this week for the teardown of the Capital Inn on Capital Boulevard, the latest in a series of structures in a flood-prone section of Capital to be acquired and torn down by the City in recent years.
