Sunshine blog: controversial Hillsborough St. zoning cases passes council

Raleigh city councilors passed a controversial zoning case Tuesday. The case changes a large swath of property near the intersection of Hillsborough and Morgan streets to make way for a new development. What that new development will look like is still a question, but see the approved set of zoning conditions in the document below.

Council approved the zoning 6-1 with District D’s Thomas Crowder voting against.

Councilors did make one change at their meeting today. Elizabeth Alley with the planning department writes in an email to the Record: “This is the version that was approved today at Council with one revision: adding the word ‘similar’ on p.11 in reference to architectural features.”

Editor’s note: The editor’s spouse has publicly opposed this zoning case, but her views are her own and in no way effect the Record’s reporting on this issue.
