School district officials this week suggested purchasing the former YWCA building for a future school downtown, but Wake County Commissioners aren’t sure they’re getting a good deal.
In a neck-and-neck race, incumbent Betty Lou Ward and newcomer Caroline Sullivan beat out their challengers for seats on the Wake County Board. Voters also approved the Wake Technical Community College bond.
Democrats running for seats on the Wake County Commission have raised more than six times the funds that Republicans have brought in this election cycle.

Republicans will remain in control of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, but candidates hope that there will be less partisanship.
No matter how this year’s elections shake out, Republicans will maintain the majority on Wake’s County Commission. But if Dems hope to retake the majority any time soon, they’ll need to win all three seats this year.
