$25M Research Project to Tackle ’24-hour Bug’

With a $25 million grant from the USDA, N.C. State food science professor Lee-Ann Jaykus is hoping a five year research project she’s leading will redefine our knowledge of the norovirus, the common foodborne pathogen known best as the “24-hour bug.”

Committee Approves ART Contract, Small Biz Plan

Members of the City Council’s Budget and Economic Development Committee approved a contract Tuesday with MV Transporation to handle some rides for disabled residents. The committee also approved going forward with Councilor Nancy McFarlane’s small business initiative. Both will be presented at the next city council meeting, Sept. 6.
