Repair, Not Replace in the Raleigh Capital Improvement Budget

This year’s proposed Capital Improvement Program focuses on repairs instead of replacements in six departments. City officials say it’s better to maintain existing infrastructure instead of building new while the economy is still on the mend. The City Council will approve the CIP as part of its total budget by the new fiscal year start July 1.

City Council Green Lights Falls Whitewater Park

A whitewater park planned for the Neuse River in Raleigh could become a reality, assuming a nonprofit can get environmental approvals and raise enough money to cover the $2.8 million price tag. Last month the Raleigh City Council unanimously voted in favor of design plans outlining the park on the Neuse River, right below the Falls Lake Dam.
