A master plan for downtown Raleigh was approved by council this week

EDITOR’S NOTE: We have chosen not to publish the names of employees making less than $100,000 a year. While that information is public, we do want to protect the privacy of City of Raleigh employees.

In March 2011, as part of the Record’s “continuing efforts to live up to the Public Record part of its name” we published a list of the salary data of every full-time permanent employee for the City of Raleigh.

Thus far, that list has not been updated, although it remains to date one of our most popular pages. Following a number of inquiries, we now bring you  an updated version of that salary data.

The list below is sorted by salary, from highest to lowest. As with before, the city attorney and the city manager are at the top, although in 2011 the city manager was being paid more than the city attorney. No surprise that the city manager and the city attorney are at the top. Ever wondered how much the parking enforcement officers downtown make? $23,801. Raleigh police recruits make $34,382 year, and bump up just under $1,000 when they become police officers.

The median income of the 3,665 employees from whom this data was drawn is $32,320.
