County Roundup: The Wake County Board of Commissioners Monday approved plans for the Northeast Regional Library after a decade of delays and redesign requests. In other business, the library system received a grant from PNC, and the building department is staffing up.
Council Roundup: Councilors voted Tuesday to end the toilet rebate program and approved updates for the Neighborhood Traffic Calming program. They granted a 30-day permit for a controversial road closure, and approved a pilot program for “parklets” in downtown Raleigh.
The city has become a popular place for music festivals, marathons and other events, which has City Councilors considering a new set of staff to oversee those events.
Raleigh Day of the Dead celebrations this weekend brought out the local Latino community on behalf of doing good.
Although the city of Raleigh has been setting aside a total of $250,000 per year since 2009 for a Stormwater Quality Cost Share program, only 16 projects have been approved to date, with nine of them having reached completion, for a total cost to the city of $135,527.
