Chair, Jay Gudeman opened the meeting. Raleigh Police Department Crime Report

Capitan Carrigan and Sgt. Johnson provided the crime report for NW Raleigh. For the months of June, July and August crime was down 15% from last year. Vehicle break-ins are up slightly due to personal possessions left visible inside of cars, unlocked doors or keys left in the ignition.

Raleigh Police Department Crime Report Officer Cochran provided a brief report. Vehicle theft is up for the month of September and beginning of October. He reminded residents of how to prevent items from being stolen by removing them from cars or not making it visible to robbers. Park, Recreation and Cultural Resources Alicia Lacombe of Lake Lynn passed out fliers about upcoming events. Housing and Neighborhoods Department No report presented.

Director Alicia LaCombe of the Lake Lynn Community Center talked about upcoming Holiday events at the center and throughout the city. Most events are from 4:00pm to 9:0pm at a low cost to participants. Housing & Neighborhood Preservation Dept. No report

Private Investment, Public Input:

Doug Hill, City Planner, explained the process of rezoning and the new UDO for the city of Raleigh.

RPD Officer Cochran reported that crime rates are down. Burglary is the most common offense (down 9% – 184 of2000 citywide in 2014). Other more frequent offenses: larcenies from motor vehicles.

Chair, Jay Gudeman introduced staff and welcomed residents to the meeting. Raleigh Police Department Crime Report Officer Cochran and Sgt. Johnson briefed the residents on crime in the NW region of the city; as of today the NW still holds the lowest crime reported in the city. One main question was “What phone number should be used in a non emergency situation”? It was advised to continue to use 911 as the 911 center will prioritize the call.

Captain Carrigan mentioned that the NW district is having a great trend with safety and low crime. Bill Yoder mentioned to everyone that the 919 Magazine featured Office Cochran. Chair, Jay Gudeman introduced staff and welcomed residents to the meeting. Raleigh Police Department Crime Report

Captain Carrigan briefed the residents on crime in the NW region of the city. Car break-ins are slightly up, but overall; as of to date, NW still holds the lowest percentage of crime reported in the city. As a reminder to residents please continue to keep car doors locked, valuable items put away to prevent from becoming a victim. Captain Carrigan responded to resident questions on cyber crime, body cameras, the use of Nextdoor and positions open within the police department.
