Community Groups Challenge Positive SRO Evaluation

A review of school resource officers — police officers who patrol middle and high schools in Wake County — was presented at last Tuesday’s School Board meeting. Administrators deemed the program a success, but members of community groups are concerned the evaluation wasn’t thorough enough.

Late November Earliest Date for UDO Public Hearing

City Councilors received an update Tuesday on the new zoning code from the Planning Department. Councilors originally hoped to pass the code this year, but now the public hearing has been pushed back to the end of the year. In other business, the Council approved bonds for the Oct. 11 ballot and condemned sidewalks for repair.

Six Decades of Atom-Smashing at NC State

The recent leak from NC State’s nuclear reactor isn’t the first time the reactor has made headlines. The reactor has done that several times since 1953, when NC State became the first campus since World War II to have its own nuclear reactor.
