Polinating giving in Raleigh

You might see the ladies – and gents – of the Beehive Collective buzzing around Raleigh. The fairly young group, made up primarily of women, gave away $25,000 in grants to two Raleigh-based charities this year. Catholic Charities and the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle were the recipients of the 2010 grant, which was voted on by the 43-member hive.

New superintendent has a big job ahead

Former Brigadier General Anthony Tata (pronounced TAY-ta) will take on his new role as superintendent for Wake County schools on January 31. He went on the record recently with reporter Will Huntsberry.

High School accreditation still in question

The Wake County Board of Education didn’t withdraw from its high schools’ accreditation Wednesday night, but it is one step closer to making that decision. The board discussed withdrawing accreditation in a controversial closed meeting, which took place during a public hearing on reassignments Wednesday night at Millbrook High School.
